NORA is an occupational safety and health public-private partnership effort facilitated by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). NIOSH is the U.S. federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for preventing work-related injury and illness and is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Formed in 2008, the NORA Oil and Gas Extraction Council includes industry representation from operating, drilling, and servicing companies; Occupational Safety and Health Administration; trade associations; academia; and major insurance companies. Together we determine and conduct priority research and identify emerging issues in the industry.
